Your essential summer read if you’re a new mum…
‘When will I get time to read?’ (I hear you cry). I’ve been there (twice) and learning on the job. Motherhood is an absolute joy but there is also pain, often physical and inevitable sacrifices that chip away at your identity.
I felt so strongly about this that I wrote a book about it and I was psyched to get it published this January 2023!
Before we hurtle towards the return to school routine (yes, it’s July already!), it’s good to reflect on the past six months and look forward to the next. It seems a good time to pay tribute to the wonderful women who made valuable contributions to my book ‘’Get Your Mojo Back’. Keep reading for some snippets of their wise words below.

Rosalie Genay is a jazz vocalist and songwriter. She had no idea that the symptoms of a tight pelvic floor could be similar to a weak one.
“Like me, a lot of women, either through high-intensity training, sexual trauma or birth trauma have hypertonic pelvic floors, which can result in very similar symptoms to a weak one… but until a pelvic floor examination with a women’s health physio, I had no idea this was even a thing!”
Hannah Johnston is a C-Section Scar Massage therapist and talks about how movement is an important part of C-Section scar recovery.
“It’s really important to make sure you think of your body as a whole. Movement, even getting out for a walk or stretching, is going to benefit your body’s healing. We spend a lot of time in the initial postpartum days being hunched over: feeding, sleeping positions, and carrying things. And if we’re bent over and our scar is healing in that way, then it’s going to be even tighter. So just remembering to open up our chest and gently lean back, even in the early days, giving that space to the tummy as well, is really important. Movement is a massive part of helping your scar to stay supple.”
